So here's one of my Spectrum 15 entries...
I'm also entering Little Franky and Nosferatu Jr. I'm up in the air on the official title of it... I'm thinking Veggie Tales from the Darkside Carrot Nightmare's What Carrot's Dream blah blah blah... The carrot was an idea I came up with at midnight the night before I had to have it finished. I had sculpted on another subject for quite a few hours and just wasn't feeling it, and then this idea came in to my peanut sized brain and I switched gears and went to the carrot... My original idea had a little 8 or 9 yr old boy with a little cape etc. and he was running away just like the carrot is. I was going to call it Marvin's Magic Trick Goes Wrong... The carrot seemed to flow better. I was going to put tiny little outstretched arms (still going to) but I screwed up and baked it and wasn't in the mood to put any more work in to it... Looking forward to coloring it and putting it on a cool base after it's cast in resin or bronze. Hope you like it... Ps oh yeah, forgot to mention that the rabbit was coming out of a magicians hat before I changed the concept Pss thanks also goes to my good friend Jerome Ranft out at Pixar who, when I told him what I was thinking about sculpting, immediately said that if I could come up with something like the tornado in the Tasmanian Devil cartoons that would be a good touch...That immediately flipped a switch in me and helped me to come up with this tornado... Thanks also goes to my friend, Jafe Parsons for taking such incredible photos for me... This just added on 3/15/09: I just wanted to thank every one of you who faved and/or commented on this piece...Really appreciate the overwhelming response that this piece got after that Daily Deviation...I tried to answer all of the messages and faves but had to admit defeat and fall back on this one big THANK YOU! Daily DeviationGiven 2009-03-01Veggie Tales From Hell by *handyrand Is a fun and dynamic sculpture with a great concept. Not only is an anthropomorphized carrot unusual, so is the actual medium used to create this piece. I was thrilled to feature it. Be sure to check out the rest of this artist's gallery; they have a variety of impressive works! (Featured by ^savagebinn) |

Are you going to eventually color it? You had me in suspense last night to see what was coming!
Meant to ask, are you going to do any more of the creepy funny Baby sculptures of classic monsters? The mummy would look fantastic, or the wolf man. Your imagination would nock em' outta the park!!
